Tripoli, Randa Refaat
Under the patronage of the Libyan Office of the Public Prosecutor, Libya inaugurated the Second International Public Prosecution Book Fair at the Tripoli International Fairgrounds, reaffirming its growing role as a regional hub for cultural and legal dialogue across the Arab world.
The event was officially opened by Counselor Al-Siddiq Al-Sour, the Attorney General of Libya, in the presence of distinguished delegations from several Arab countries, including Egypt, along with senior diplomats from the League of Arab States, and prominent figures such as Khaled El-Balshy, President of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate. The ceremony was further enriched by the attendance of intellectuals, writers, and media leaders from across the region.
Also in attendance were Eng. Issam Al-
Aoul, Chairman of the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences; Mr. Islam Jaafar, Director General of the Tripoli International Fair; and Mr. Shukri Al-Taif, Deputy Director General, alongside members of the High Judicial Council, ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, and leading cultural and academic personalities.
Organized through the Criminal Research and Training Center of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and supervised by the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, the fair stands as one of the most influential cultural events in Libya and the wider Arab region. It brings together local and international publishing houses, presenting hundreds of titles spanning literature, philosophy, law, and the humanities.
Beyond its literary showcases, the fair features book signings, panel discussions, and specialized workshops designed to promote reading culture and deepen public understanding of legal principles. The accompanying cultural program includes expert lectures on constitutional culture, exploring its role in strengthening national institutions and advancing justice systems.
In his opening remarks, Attorney General Al-Sour emphasized that the fair embodies the vision of the Libyan Public Prosecution to promote knowledge, foster legal awareness, and anchor the values of justice and the rule of law in society.
With its dynamic blend of legal scholarship and cultural engagement, the International Public Prosecution Book Fair underscores Libya’s commitment to positioning itself as a leading voice in Arab legal thought and cultural development — bridging ideas, institutions, and generations in pursuit of an enlightened future.
