في مشهد يعكس دبلوماسية ناعمة وفاعلة، جسدها السفير التركي في القاهرة، صالح موطلو شن، نظّمت السفارة التركية حفلًا حيويًا بمناسبة عيد الشباب والرياضة وذكرى مؤسس الجمهورية التركية مصطفى كمال أتاتورك في 19 مايو. الفعالية، التي احتضنها مقر إقامة السفير، لم تكن مجرد احتفال تقليدي، بل منصة لتفعيل قنوات التواصل الثقافي والرياضي بين الشعبين التركي والمصري، وخاصة بين فئة الشباب.
يُعد السفير شن من أنشط السفراء الأتراك الذين تولّوا المنصب في القاهرة خلال السنوات الأخيرة، إذ استطاع توظيف الرياضة والشباب كأدوات ناعمة لتعزيز العلاقات الثنائية. وفي كلمته بالمناسبة، أكد السفير أن “الشباب يمثلون الأمل والمستقبل، وأن الرياضة تعزز الصداقة”، معلنًا عن تنظيم مباراة ودية بين منتخبي تركيا ومصر تحت 21 عامًا هذا العام، بمناسبة الذكرى المئوية للعلاقات الدبلوماسية بين البلدين، وهي خطوة تُترجم التوجه التركي نحو تعزيز التفاهم الإقليمي عبر قنوات غير تقليدية.
السفير شن أعاد التذكير بالرمزية العميقة لهذا اليوم، الذي أهداه أتاتورك للشباب، مشيرًا إلى أن التاسع عشر من مايو هو “يوم الحرية والاستقلال”، وأن المستقبل عهدٌ قطعه أتاتورك للشباب، وهو ما وسّعه شن ليشمل الشباب الفلسطيني، مؤكداً أنهم أمل استقلال فلسطين.
لم يكن الخطاب التركي مقتصرًا على البُعد الوطني، بل حمل بعدًا إنسانيًا وأخلاقيًا، إذ وصف شن ما يحدث في غزة بأنه “اختبار للضمير الإنساني والقانون الدولي”، مؤكدًا أن كل الأطفال والشباب، سواء في فلسطين أو إسرائيل، يستحقون مستقبلًا حرًا وآمنًا وكريمًا، وداعيًا الشباب إلى “ألا يحيدوا أبدًا عن الكرامة الإنسانية والعدالة وطريق السلام”.
شهد الحفل مشاركة لافتة من الشباب المصري والفلسطيني، وتخللته مسابقات رياضية تفاعلية، كما فازت ثلاث شابات – اثنتان مصريتان وفلسطينية – بتذاكر طيران مقدمة من شركة A Jet، في لمسة رمزية تُشجع على التواصل والتنقل الثقافي.
بتفعيل أدوات الرياضة والثقافة والشباب، وتمسكه بخطاب يجمع بين المبادئ والواقعية، يرسّخ السفير صالح موطلو شن نهجًا دبلوماسيًا تركيًا حديثًا في القاهرة، لا يقوم على الرسائل الرسمية فقط، بل يتناغم مع نبض المجتمع المصري، ويُعيد تقديم أنقرة كصديق حقيقي يشارك القيم والتطلعات.

diplomacy, Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Şen, hosted a vibrant celebration at his residence on the occasion of Turkey’s Youth and Sports Day and the commemoration of the founding father Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on May 19. More than a traditional gathering, the event served as a platform to strengthen cultural and athletic ties between the Turkish and Egyptian people—particularly among youth.
Ambassador Şen has emerged as one of the most dynamic Turkish envoys to Cairo in recent years. He has skillfully used sports and youth engagement as soft power tools to enhance bilateral relations. In his remarks, he stated, “Youth represent hope and the future, and sports strengthen friendship,” announcing a friendly football match this year between the U-21 national teams of Turkey and Egypt in celebration of the centennial of diplomatic relations between the two nations. This initiative reflects Turkey’s renewed commitment to regional harmony through non-traditional channels.
Ambassador Şen reiterated the deep symbolism of May 19, which Atatürk dedicated to the youth of Turkey, describing it as a “day of freedom and independence.” He extended this vision to include Palestinian youth, affirming that they are also the hope for Palestine’s freedom and future.
Ambassador Şen’s speech was not confined to national symbolism—it carried a moral and humanitarian tone. He described the tragedy unfolding in Gaza as “a test of conscience and international law,” asserting that all children and youth, whether in Palestine or Israel, deserve a future marked by freedom, dignity, and peace. He urged young people “never to deviate from the path of human dignity, justice, and peace.”
The event witnessed active participation from Egyptian and Palestinian youth, featuring sports competitions and culminating in a symbolic gesture: the drawing of three airline tickets sponsored by A Jet, awarded to two young Egyptian women and one Palestinian woman—encouraging cultural connectivity and exchange.
Through his activation of cultural and sporting diplomacy, combined with a message that blends principled values and pragmatic outreach, Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen is shaping a modern Turkish diplomatic narrative in Cairo.
