تحت رعاية الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي، دشَّنت مصر اليوم مقر **الوكالة الفضائية الأفريقية** بالمدينة الفضائية المصرية، في حدثٍ يُعد علامة فارقة نحو تعزيز التعاون العلمي والتكنولوجي بالقارة، وتمكين دول أفريقيا من توظيف تكنولوجيا الفضاء لتحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة.
أكد الدكتور شريف صدقي، الرئيس التنفيذي لوكالة الفضاء المصرية، أن المقر الجديد سيكون نواةً لاستراتيجية موحدة لعلوم الفضاء في أفريقيا، بالتوافق مع أجندة ٢٠٦٣، مشيرًا إلى دعم مصر المالي (٢٠ مليون دولار) والتدريبي، الذي أسهم في تأهيل ٧١ خبيرًا فضائيًا من ٣٤ دولة أفريقية، وإطلاق مشروع “القمر الصناعي الأفريقي للتنمية” لمواجهة التحديات المناخية.
شارك في الافتتاح وزراء ومسؤولون من دول أفريقية، بينهم وزير التعليم العالي المصري الدكتور أيمن عاشور، الذي وصف الحدث بـ”التتويج لجهود مصر الداعمة للعمل المشترك”، فيما أكد وزير الخارجية الدكتور بدر عبد العاطي أن الوكالة ستُعزز القدرات الأفريقية لـ”خوض غمار المستقبل بثقة”.
خُتم الحفل بتكريم جهود الهيئة الهندسية للقوات المسلحة في إنشاء المقر، الذي يُضاف إلى سجل إنجازات مصر العلمية، وسط حضور دولي وأفريقي واسع، يعكس الثقة في الدور المصري الرائد بقطاع الفضاء بالقارة.
“Egypt Inaugurates African Space Agency Headquarters… A Historic Leap Toward Continental Leadership in Space”
Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Egypt inaugurated the headquarters of the African Space Agency in the Egyptian Space City today, marking a landmark event in advancing continental scientific and technological collaboration.
This milestone underscores Africa’s growing capabilities to leverage space technology in achieving sustainable development goals.
Dr. Sherif Sedky, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, emphasized that the new headquarters will serve as a cornerstone for a unified African space strategy, aligned with the continent’s Agenda 2063. He highlighted Egypt’s financial contribution of $20 million and its capacity-building initiatives, including training 71 space experts from 34 African nations.
Dr. Sedky also noted the ongoing development of the African Development Satellite, a collaborative project with multiple African nations aimed at addressing climate challenges through advanced space data.
The inauguration ceremony saw participation from high-profile African ministers and officials, including Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ayman Ashour, who described the event as “the culmination of Egypt’s efforts to champion pan-African cooperation.”
Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atty affirmed that the agency will empower Africa to “confidently navigate future frontiers,” reinforcing the continent’s commitment to the African Space Policy 2063.
The event concluded with a tribute to the Egyptian Armed Forces Engineering Authority for their pivotal role in constructing the state-of-the-art facility, further cementing Egypt’s legacy in advancing science and technology. The ceremony’s robust international and African attendance highlighted global confidence in Egypt’s leadership in driving space innovation across the continent.
