The President of the Arab Parliament H.E. Mr. Adel bin AbdulRahman AlAsoomi, emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy led by the Arab Parliament aims to enhance its presence at all Arab, Islamic and international levels to serve Arab issues and defend them in all regional and international forums.This came during the reception by H.E. Ms. Tanzila Narbaeva, Speaker of the Senate of Uzbekistan, of H.E. Mr. Adel bin AbdulRahman AlAsoomi, President of the Arab Parliament, who visits the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, in response to the invitation extended to him to hold bilateral discussions with Uzbek Officials, as well as to participate as an international observer in the early presidential elections in Uzbekistan as a result of the recent constitutional amendments in the country.During the meeting, AlAsoomi praised the recent constitutional reforms in Uzbekistan, which reinforce the progress of democratic development in the country, adding that these reforms and the early presidential elections taking place in Uzbekistan affirm the keenness of the political leadership to enable the Uzbek people to express their opinion and exercise their constitutional rights, thus making Uzbekistan a role model for democratic development in the region of Central Asia. AlAsoomi also reiterated the keenness of the Arab Parliament to activate all aspects of cooperation with the Parliament in the Republic of Uzbekistan, including the organization of the First Arab and Muslim Women’s Forum, expected to be held in cooperation between the two sides in the near future in Samarkand City in Uzbekistan, and which is envisaged to play a significant role in advocating women’s issues in Arab and Islamic countries and giving attention to their rights.From her side, H.E. Ms. Speaker of the Senate of Uzbekistan praised the parliamentary diplomacy led by the President of the Arab Parliament, adding that President AlAsoomi’s extensive and diverse external activities at all levels have made the Arab Parliament appreciated by all regional and international parties, and enabled the Arab Parliament to build a network of international multilateral parliamentary relations in the field of parliamentary diplomacy, and she stressed in this context her keenness to invest in growing cooperation with the Arab Parliament to serve the issues of Arab and Islamic countries by activating the role of parliamentary diplomacy at all levels.
