The Arab Observatory for Human Rights (AOHR) called on the international community to act to implement the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United Nations, in the Gaza Strip, and to move away from the policy of double standards, stressing that the conscience of humanity had been killed with all the horrific scenes of killing that we witness against the defenseless Palestinian people without any reaction from spokesmen of human rights.
This came in the statement issued by the AOHR on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, observed each year on 10 December, marking the anniversary of the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The AOHR emphasized that citizens’ enjoyment of their fundamental rights at all levels in order to preserve their human dignity contributes to the promotion of equality and reassurance and to the creation of conscious generations capable of giving and upgrading their countries and achieving sustainable development.
The AOHR noted that every human being has the full right to enjoy all his rights, not only political but also social, economic, cultural, and all rights that contribute to live with dignity without racism or discrimination.
The AOHR signalled that our Arab States are actively endeavouring to place human rights among national priorities, and are working to formulate policies and strategies that contribute to strengthening their national human rights systems.
