President El-Sisi Calls for Diplomacy and De-Escalation in Phone Talks with Iranian President

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt received a phone call today from President Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, during which the two leaders discussed key regional developments, foremost among them the Iranian nuclear file.

According to Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s deep concern over the escalating tensions in the region, underscoring the importance of exercising restraint and avoiding any actions that could further destabilize the Middle East.

President El-Sisi firmly emphasized that military solutions are neither viable nor sustainable, reiterating that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only effective path toward resolving the crisis in a manner that safeguards regional and international security and spares the region further instability.

The President reaffirmed Egypt’s continued and principled efforts to help bring the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table, with the aim of reaching a peaceful, comprehensive settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue. He noted that Egypt views such a settlement as essential to maintaining strategic stability in the Middle East and beyond.

President El-Sisi also recalled that he had previously highlighted the importance of this issue during his recent meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, stressing Egypt’s consistent role as a proponent of political solutions and constructive engagement.

The Egyptian President further expressed Egypt’s hope that all concerned parties would uphold the value of dialogue, overcome existing differences, and work collectively toward a mutually acceptable and comprehensive agreement.

He reiterated Egypt’s full support for all sincere efforts aimed at de-escalation and peaceful resolution.

For his part, President Pezeshkian conveyed his deep appreciation for Egypt’s balanced and responsible role in promoting calm and preventing escalation in the region. He affirmed Iran’s keenness to strengthen consultation and political coordination with Egypt, recognizing Cairo’s influential role in supporting regional security and stability.

The call reflects Egypt’s enduring diplomatic posture under President El-Sisi, characterized by measured leadership, commitment to dialogue, and active engagement in addressing complex regional challenges through peaceful and constructive means.
