في خطوةٍ تُعيد إشعال الأمل باحتواء التوترات الإقليمية، وصلت وفودٌ رفيعة المستوى من الولايات المتحدة وإيران صباح اليوم إلى العاصمة العُمانية مسقط، لبدء جولةٍ جديدة من المفاوضات غير المباشرة، وسط تحذيرات دولية من انفجار الأوضاع إذا فشلت الحلول الدبلوماسية.
قاد عباس عراقجي، وزير الخارجية الإيراني، وفدًا ضمّ كبار المسؤولين، بينهم إسماعيل بقائي المتحدث باسم الخارجية، ومجيد تخت روانجي مساعد وزير الخارجية للشؤون السياسية، وكاظم غريب آبادي مساعد الوزير للشؤون القانونية.
وفي أول تصريحٍ له بعد الهبوط، نشر بقائي على منصة «إكس» آية قرآنية: “فَإِذَا عَزَمْتَ فَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ”، مؤكدًا أن الوفد الإيراني «عازم على استخدام كل الأدوات لحماية مصالح إيران».
من جانبها، استقبلت السلطنة الوفدين بــدبلوماسية الحياد التاريخية، حيث التقى عراقجي فور وصوله بنظيره العُماني بدر البوسعيدي، الذي أشاد بـ«العلاقات الاستثنائية» بين مسقط وطهران، فيما قدَّم الوزير الإيراني شكرًا خاصًّا لـعُمان على «نهجها المسؤول واستضافتها الحوار بروح المبادرة الإنسانية».
تركز المحادثات – وفق مصادر دبلوماسية – على ملفين رئيسيين:
- البرنامج النووي الإيراني وضرورة عودة الولايات المتحدة إلى اتفاق 2015 بعد انسحابها الأحادي تحت إدارة ترامب.
- رفع العقوبات «الجائرة» المفروضة على طهران، والتي تشكل – بحسب تصريحات إيرانية سابقة – «عقبة أمام أي تفاهم».
- التوترات الإقليمية، خاصة مع تصريحات الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب الأخيرة التي زعم فيها إجراء «مباحثات مباشرة» مع إيران، بينما أكدت طهران أنها لن تتفاوض إلا عبر وسطاء.
كشف البيان المشترك عن تسليم عراقجي مواقف إيران الرسمية إلى الجانب العُماني، لتُنقل لاحقًا إلى الوفد الأمريكي، في إطار آلية التفاوض غير المباشر التي اعتمدتها السلطنة بنجاحٍ سابقًا في 2015.
وأكد البوسعيدي أن «عُمان لن تدخر جهدًا لتحقيق نقلةٍ إيجابية»، مُشيرًا إلى أن «الدبلوماسية العُمانية تعمل كجسرٍ للثقة بين الأطراف المتعثرة».
من ناحيته، نوّه عراقجي إلى أن «استضافة مسقط للمفاوضات ليست محايدة فحسب، بل هي شهادةٌ على حكمة السلطنة في قراءة المشهد الإقليمي»، مُضيفًا أن «عُمان تمثل صوت العقل في منطقةٍ ملتهبة».
تأتي هذه الجولة بعد تصريحات مُثيرة للرئيس ترامب يوم الاثنين الماضي، والتي ادعى فيها – خلال لقاءٍ مع رئيس وزراء كيان الاحتلال نتنياهو – أن «المحادثات مع إيران بدأت وستستمر»، مُعربًا عن أمله في أن «تصب في مصلحة المنطقة».
إلا أن طهران نفت أي حوارٍ مباشر مع واشنطن، مؤكدةً أن التفاوض سيكون عبر العُمانيين فقط.
يراقب العالم بقلقٍ هذه المفاوضات التي قد تُحدد مصير استقرار الشرق الأوسط، خاصة مع تنامي التحديات الأمنية والاقتصادية.
وتُعتبر عُمان – بفضل سمعتها كوسيط نزيه – الخيار الأمثل لاحتضان حوارٍ يُطفئ نارًا قد تُحرق الجميع إذا اشتعلت.
“Muscat Ignites Hope: U.S.-Iranian Decisive Talks Under Omani Mediation to ‘Extinguish a Fire Beneath the Ashes’”
In a move reigniting hopes of containing regional tensions, high-level delegations from Iran and the United States arrived in the Omani capital, Muscat, on Saturday morning to commence a new round of indirect negotiations, amid global warnings of escalating instability should diplomatic efforts collapse.
Leading the Iranian delegation, Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, was accompanied by senior officials, including Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Baghaei, Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi, and Assistant Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi. Shortly after landing, Baghaei quoted a Quranic verse on his social media platform X: “When you have resolved, put your trust in Allah”, emphasizing Iran’s determination to “leverage all tools to safeguard national interests.”
Oman, renowned for its historic diplomacy of neutrality, welcomed both delegations. Araghchi immediately met his Omani counterpart, Badr Al-Busaidi, who praised the “exceptional relations” between Muscat and Tehran. Araghchi, in turn, lauded Oman’s “responsible approach and humanitarian-driven initiative to host dialogue
Diplomatic sources confirm the talks will focus on three pivotal issues:
- Iran’s Nuclear Program: Discussions aim to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, abandoned unilaterally by the U.S. under the Trump administration.
- Lifting ‘Unjust’ Sanctions: Tehran insists sanctions relief is a prerequisite for progress, branding them “obstacles to mutual understanding.”
- Regional Tensions: Escalating friction, particularly following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent claim of “direct talks” with Iran—a claim Tehran denies, stressing negotiations will remain indirect via Omani mediators.
A joint statement revealed that Araghchi formally submitted Iran’s positions to the Omani side for relay to the U.S. delegation, replicating Muscat’s successful mediation model from 2015. Al-Busaidi affirmed, “Oman will spare no effort to foster a positive shift,” adding that “Omani diplomacy serves as a bridge of trust between conflicting parties.”
Araghchi echoed the sentiment, stating, “Muscat’s role transcends neutrality—it reflects Oman’s wisdom in navigating the regional landscape. Oman is the voice of reason in a volatile region.”
The talks follow contentious remarks by President Trump during a Monday press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where he asserted that “discussions with Iran have begun and will continue,” expressing hope they “benefit the region.” Tehran, however, reiterated its refusal for direct dialogue, underscoring Oman’s exclusive role as intermediary.
The world watches anxiously as these negotiations could determine the Middle East’s fragile stability, particularly amid rising security and economic challenges. Oman—with its legacy as an impartial mediator—remains the ideal host for a dialogue that could extinguish a fire threatening to engulf all if ignited.
