At the first events of the official visit to the People’s Republic of China:AlAsoomi meets with the Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party Committee of Shaanxi and Speaker of Parliament of the Province
The President of the Arab Parliament H.E. Mr. Adel bin AbdulRahman AlAsoomi and the accompanying delegation met with H.E. Mr. Zhao Yide Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party Committee of Shaanxi Province, at the same time Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress in the Province, the meeting took place in the Chinese city of Xi’An in the Province.This came as the first event of the official visit of the Arab Parliament’s delegation to the People’s Republic of China in response to the invitation extended by the Chairman of the Chinese Parliament to the President of the Arab Parliament.During the meeting, AlAsoomi and the delegation of the Arab Parliament heard an explanation from the Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party in Shaanxi Province on the Province’s economic role and its aspiration to strengthen its cooperation with Arab States in the coming period, adding that the visit of the Arab Parliament’s delegation to China would facilitate this cooperation and open broader horizons for it, he further noted that there are plans to enhance the Province’s cooperation with chambers of commerce in Arab countries during the next phase, describing China’s relations with Arab States as strategic among friends.From his side, AlAsoomi underlined that the visit of the Arab Parliament delegation to Shaanxi Province, as the first destination visited by the delegation before the capital Beijing, reflects the Arab Parliament’s recognition of the strategic importance of this province, as it represents the starting point of the Silk Road which is a development and strategic project that will benefit the countries of the world, notably developing countries.AlAsoomi highlighted that the city of Xi’An has historically been the crossroads of civilizations and cultural exchange between peoples, and a resort for everyone who wants to learn about China’s great history and civilisation, it also includes the oldest and most famous Mosque in the Republic of China, as well as China’s most important tourist attractions which are the destination of thousands of tourist visitors on a daily basis.AlAsoomi added that the Arab Parliament strongly supports the strengthening of Arab-Chinese relations at all levels, especially at the economic level, stressing that these relations are based on mutual respect and mutual benefit for all parties, which confer on them factors of strength, development and continuity, and reinforce the civilizational and cultural commonalities linking the Arab and Chinese peoples.
